Chris Liles — Owner & Head Coach, South Carolina Gun School

Chris Liles is the owner and head coach of South Carolina Gun School (SCGS), a firearms training and education organization focused on helping responsible gun owners develop the skills, knowledge, mindset, and confidence needed to protect themselves and others. A former U.S. Marine, Chris brings a foundation of discipline, accountability, and a commitment to continual improvement to everything he does as an instructor.

Throughout his training career, Chris has deliberately sought out instructors and organizations that challenge conventional thinking and push him beyond his comfort zone. His training includes working with Kevin Dixie of No Other Choice, Ken Scott of The Provectus Group, and Rob Pincus through the PDN Network, along with numerous other respected instructors and training organizations. Rather than believing that an instructor ever "knows it all," Chris believes that good instructors should remain students themselves—continually learning, testing their skills, and seeking out different perspectives.

That philosophy extends beyond firearms training. Chris spends a significant amount of his personal time practicing his firearm skills, and training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), using the discipline as another avenue for developing physical skills, problem-solving ability, composure under pressure, and a deeper understanding of conflict and personal protection. For Chris, training isn't something that stops when the class ends—it is an ongoing process of learning, practicing, evaluating, and improving.

Through South Carolina Gun School, Chris combines his military experience, years of firearms training, continued education, and passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to provide students with practical, realistic, and responsible training. His goal is simple: to help people become more capable, more prepared, and better equipped to make good decisions when it matters most.
